PHOTOGRAPHY We will seek your permission before sharing any occasional picture/video taken by the studio that could be used to inspire new families and encourage early childhood music education in our community.
PARENT PARTICIPATION/PICK UP TIME Parents are encouraged to plan to participate as an audience member or become a student the last 2 minutes of class as a way to review materials with student & teacher and give confidence to the child.
HOME PRACTICE This is the moment for you to shine as a family! Students & parents are expected to be prepared at each lesson with the material they were assigned the previous lesson. Encouraged daily practicing time: 15 min adults, 2-10 min children. It is more beneficial to do a 1-3x time run-through of the song than forcing a child to sit unwillingly doing repetitive work. Make it fun and easy for all!
Tips:
- Place the keyboard/piano in a nearby place where a parent can collaborate while doing a daily house activity, like cooking/laundry.
- Parent plays the song once and student follows 1 to 3 times. Sing along, make-up words/melody, be silly!
- Practice being an audience member by creating an audience or stage with favorite their toys and perform for them!
- If siblings are around please encourage them to wait their turn too and teach them to become active audience members during that 1-3x practice time. When it is their turn, use this time to guide them too! They also want to learn!
- If student would like more privacy as the musical interest grows, consider getting headphones for the keyboard or arrange a quiet activity as a family to do while listening in the background. (like: painting/reading)
Most importantly, if student is not interested, avoid forcing it! Interest will develop as child continues the musical exposure!
DISCONTINUATION BY COMPASSion Music Studio
