LOCATION  COMPASSion Music Studio at Local Office's upstairs lobby

WHAT TO WEAR  Families may wear their favorite Holiday outfits for complimentary family portraits!

SNACKS  Please feel free to bring any snacks to share at the end of our performance!

WHAT DO I DO AS A PARENT

Help your child feel prepared by making sure they bring their performance piano song. I try to have a blank copy available if forgotten, but sometimes our class markings aid in reassurance.

Performances go by very quickly, so be attentive to their performance and compliment participation/musical achievements to them & others.

IMPORTANT & QUICK FYI!

We remember criticism for a long time! Please avoid mentioning anything related to 'shyness' towards your child or as an observation to other performers.

The best way we can help in making them feel secure is by having them well-prepared and going over the things that could go well for them to realize they are in a safe space during this optional performance.

WHAT TO SAY AFTER THE PERFORMANCE?

  • Share a moment where you saw a positive interaction with other children/adults.
  • Compliment their confidence when they introduced themselves or took a bow.
  • Compliment how they demonstrated kindness by listening to other musicians.
  • Compliment how they completed a full song. Keep in mind that no matter how short the songs may feel to us, students prepared for this event.
  • Share a specific moment that you loved in the piece.
  • Share if the song reminded you of a personal experience.
  • Most importantly, use the same language you would use to describe your own child’s performance when sharing your observations with your family about other performers.
